Learn to sail in Collingwood, Ontario
2024 Registration is open!
Beginners
CANSail 1 and 2 introduce fundamental sailing skills. As the first step in learning to sail a small boat, you'll learn about the different parts of the boat, and learn some basics sailing skills – like tiller steering and proper body position.
Intermediate
Participants sail in double-handed C420 dinghies and continue to master and build on skills introduced in previous levels. Our certified instructors will teach new and exciting elements of sailing, including racing fundamentals, trapeze and flying spinnaker.
Evening Lessons
Designed for adult beginners, these lessons provide comprehensive instruction in sailing basics, culminating in CANSail 1 certification. The curriculum includes rigging, maneuvers, and safety procedures.

Volunteer in Training Program
Collingwood Sailing Academy's Volunteer in Training (VIT) program offers an exciting opportunity for students over 12 years old who have completed at least CANSail 2. This program is designed to nurture leadership and teaching skills in young sailors. Participants will gain hands-on experience assisting instructors, helping with younger classes, and learning the ins and outs of sailing instruction. It's a fantastic way for enthusiastic sailors to develop their skills, contribute to our sailing community, and prepare for potential future roles as instructors.
